Hey Guys, I have been meaning to post this for a while but have been building. I Bought a fret board radius jig click here from Craig. For those of you who have one of these machines you know what I mean when I say "this thing rocks"!! From compound to standard radius it really gets the job done right and quickly. Craig seems like a very genuine guy who really cares about making certain that his products do the job as advertised.....if you are out there Craig, Thanks!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Craig & all Wondering if you guys have tried machining an inlaid fretboard? Barry Daniels down in Houston uses a jig somewhat on the order of this and reported having to use a special carbide bit to prevent chipping the inlays. I currently use a shopmade jig on my 6x89 belt sander but still like Craig's concept. Really cool with the sliding pivot member. Sure looks like that ought to be patentable. Nelson |

Thanks guys ![]() Nelson, to quote Rolfe Gerhardt, "I also trimmed two already-radiused, ebony-bound, inlaid ebony fingerboards, and they went fine". I'm not sure how the rest of the guys are using the system, but I've run over the shell and have not had any problems. I use a $14 bottom cleaning carbide bit I bought from Grizzly. I do recommend to everyone to radius and then taper their boards as there can be some slight chip out on the edges, but if you radius first, you don't need to worry about that. The system is patent pending...man that takes forever...and I know my stuff has to meet high standards with all of you quality veteran builders out there. ![]() Craig |
